Bat Masterson (Joel McCrea) has been making a living as a Buffalo Hunter with his friend Billy (Wright King). Bat goes to see his brother Ed in Dodge City after his brother is murdered Bat is tormented on what to do. Bat has bought a share in a local saloon and now is partners with a widow named Lily. Bat finds himself a candidate for sheriff and also finds himself romantically involved with Ed’s fiancee Pauline.
